I copied the driver from another system and that resovled my whole problem. For Windows XP, go to Start->Run.  Type “cmd” and press enter.  A command window should pop up.  Then type “netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt” and press enter.  You will then have routers, cable modems, DSL gateways, etc. It took quite some digging to get to this post but I was determined not to reinstall. weblink
