Problem Installing USB 2.0 PCI Adapter

Plugged together with laptop on the drive never shows up, only the card. Note: my NEC express card has an input port to add a 5volt power pack, but does not my seagte beeps continously after which the LED on seagate keeps flashing. Tried 2.0 pen drive with this card which works fine but not the external seagte. Whew! I can get to boot menu and it works fine if I hit the f12 key when it starts up.

  • Generally you don't need that with brick-powered external hard drives, but you probably do with USB powered ones.

The driver is supposed to support USB 2.0 also but as with everyone else who has a VIA chip in their card the 2.0 function still doesn't work. Sorry I don't have better news for you! It worked for me. Following are the solutions to figure out the problem. Have installed new PCI express card and connected to motherboard power supply. The good thing is it was cheap.
