Don't usually leave comments but this really got me in a ditch. As long as you have a good up to date AV, update java and adobe regularly, I think you are as safe with IE as any other browser. I installed Microsoft Fix It, but still not resolved the problem Muhammad You are a life-savior! Perhaps Chrome uses the Registry for this and something's wrong with it in the same way on two systems?

glo Amazing!!! Right click on the file. Scroll down to the regedit.exe file. If it's not involved, I can't imagine what it could be.
You will get a warning, asking Are you sure you want to continue. Million thanks. What shoud I do??. These need to be cleared and, when cleared, the system will go back to the default and the EXE extension should then work again.
