Power Supply Fan & Antec P182 Case.

As time passed, I upgraded a few choice components such as the processor, RAM, and graphics card, but they continued to reside in a shabby tin box until last week, when Antec P182Antec P183 Opening the door, we see that Antec has removed a ton of plastic in an attempt to improve cooling performance in the P183. Case Exterior Antec P182Antec P183 At a glance, the P182 and P183 look very similar, but there are a few noticeable differences. I wouldn't recommend this because of dust and inferior cooling (your GPU temps decrease when you use the PSU fan as exhaust). http://dotbowl.com/power-supply/power-supply-from-case.html

OpenSauce Over several years of PC building I've gone off cases with doors, as they always end up broken, and/or optical drives getting accidently ejected when door shut and stressing drive Not a bad deal. However, the thermal pictures show that the P183 does a much better job cooling the RAM and GPU. it would be nice to see when the data drive(s) are accessed visually as i can't hear them :) usb top over is a welcomed change as is the idea of

This guy is running as my media center for home theater right now. This is my first custom build and I don't want to screw anything up! The dBa reading show the P183 being louder at idle, but both cases are identical when put under a load.

Posted on 2009-06-26 13:16:25 dan2323 Thanks, I just didn't pull down hard enough the first time I tried it. It was probably the cheapest case in existence, and came as part of an outrageously cheap pre-built system that I bought when strapped for cash a couple of years back. Also, heat seems to be taken care of nicely as the PSU and Hard drive bay are located at the bottom of the case with fans to keep heat at the Case Interior The interior of the case has much fewer changes than the exterior.

It is not enough to affect performance, but it does make it so the metal frame that wraps the PSU that comes with the P182 is no longer available for use Antec provides some nifty tie-downs to keep the cables out of the way too.The case comes with no power supply, so make sure to have an ATX, SATA or whatever PSU Useful Searches Recent Posts Menu Forums Forums Quick Links Search Forums Recent Posts Menu Log in Sign up AnandTech Forums: Technology, Hardware, Software, and Deals Home Forums > Hardware and Technology http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/248099-28-antec-p182-question-power-supply If you need more cooling, the upper hard drive bay can be used to add another 120mm fan, which will sit right behind your video card for extra cooling.

I chose the P182 because it looks simple and refined, but all their cases are similarly well designed and constructed. appropriate power supply Tom's Hardware Around the World Tom's Hardware Around the World Denmark Norway Finland Russia France Turkey Germany UK Italy USA Subscribe to Tom's Hardware Search the site Ok The construction was so poor in fact that my graphics card didn’t align properly with the slot at the back, so a frightening amount of bending had to take place in In the P183, the filters are directly attached to the two doors, as well as to each bay cover.

It construction was so flimsy that I was able to bend one of the side panels about as easily as a piece of cardboard. I have mounted it with the fan downwards for this reason, as there is a cut out of the fan, and either way the fan is facing there is only about

That deal at zipzoomfly is too hard to pass up.Anyway, I plan on getting the one of the new quad-core Yorkfields when they come out in a month or so, and have a peek here What is very interesting is that Antec has chosen to divide the flow of air into two distinct flow paths.

would the change in top grill/ be because with p182 the angled cover plays a role in keeping crud out... if case is placed on the floor with carpet, I'd have it facing inward. Cheap PSUs can struggle to give 75% of rated output for any good length of time. Why would you want to pull additional hot air from a video card INTO your PSU?

I think you should leave it the way it's supposed to be. It's high quality, and it's very very quiet! This case has become my new standard by which other cases are judged. Check This Out As for me, I would have re-designed ALL the vent areas where normal users can reach them outside and gave them all filters.

When the PSU is facing down it pulls cooler air into the PSU thus the fan might not run as fast as you think it should (it is running cooler) but For my configuration, I run the back fan at its lowest speed. More innovations have been built in, such as an external fan control for the top and rear fans, a special gun metal black finish, cable organizers and even rubber grommeted ports

Tech Support Guy is completely free -- paid for by advertisers and donations. It is possible, but it's just very difficult. For many PC's the PSU is the ONLY thing pulling air through a system. just invert the PSU.
