I have used on XP and Win 7 variously to build a large document with many embedded jpegs for then last fortnight. Images are disappearing and only place holders are found. We've just tried downdating to version 4.1.6 (obtained from http://mirror.internode.on.net/pub/libreoffice/stable/4.1.6/win/x86/LibreOffice_4.1.6_Win_x86.msi). Feel free to help!
