If not, I would suggest the thing to do would be to format the drive so it's clean. He is running Windows XP. It is a sure HDD ( HARD DISC ) FAILURE... If that can't access the drive, it's probably toast. When you are ready to do the copy process, remove the drive from the freezer, install it and boot the PC.

I doubt that you need worry. You should see a message that may say something like PRESS DEL TO ENTER SETUP. Couple more points to clear up. I have seen some motherboards that have SATA ports that do not support a bootable device. Then reconnect the drive. On my system hitting F11 brings up the menu during POST.
